IH26

The template for the IH26 system is any pentagon formed by making one of the sides of a rectangle the base of an isosceles triangle. The triangle can be mounted either externally or internally; in the latter case its size is limited to avoid overlap with the opposite side of the rectangle. Examples are shown of both cases with the rectangle indicated by the dotted line. Only the two equal sides of the isosceles triangle can be shaped as indicated  by the half-arrows. The template and any tile shape formed from it have one axis of internal reflection symmetry, as indicated by the dog pattern.

A section of the tiling formed by this template is shown below, with a translation cluster outlined.  The two basic translations are indicated by the vectors  drawn from the highlighted cluster. The tiling has four different centres of two-fold rotation symmetry, two different axes of glide and another two of mirror reflection  symmetry; an example of each is shown. The symmetry group of  the tiling is cmm.

An example of a decorated tile shape is shown

Four different colours are required in the tiles to avoid tiles of the same colour being adjacent to one another.
